about

Tahini Molasses is a trans+ Cypriot migrant artist based in London. Their practice explores unspoken decolonial histories and cultural nostalgia through queer sonic and visual approaches. They reinterpret traditional songs and symbols through a trans lens, expanding queer representation within the region’s cultural memory.

Since 2021, they have presented work across art spaces, festivals, and community contexts in the UK, including Nazar at Southbank Centre (2022–2024), Richard Saulton Gallery (2024), Migration Matters Festival (2024), Ugly Duck (2024), and internationally at Larnaca Biennale (Cyprus, 2025), İç İçe Festival (Berlin, 2025), Xarkis Festival (Cyprus, 2024), and Queerwave Festival (Cyprus, 2024).

Alongside their artistic practice, they have produced spaces for SWANA queer communities through the collective Harem of Noone, and as part of Dolmus, a devised theatre project presented at Camden People’s Theatre (2025), which centres migrant experiences in London. These explorations of culture, belonging, and identity are central to their practice. Tahini’s recent project NAZAR explores music and identity through the fusion of eastern maqam scales with electronic music, marking the beginning of a body of work that brings together their sound, performance, and visual practices.
